Very fair and realistic value on the PLD trade. Montreal jumps all over that.

Habs and Wings decline pretty easily. That's quite rich in picks and prospects, without getting into a lot of salary going one way and none going the other. Frankly, the hypothetical Lindholm proposal may be a better argument as to why Montreal wouldn't do the Dubois trade than anything (I do expect him to re-sign with Calgary though). I also doubt the Wings value Pionk anywhere close to what you think they may, they'd be better off looking at Severson themselves or seeing what a guy like Petry would cost.

Heinola doesn't feel like the type of prospect that the Panthers would be looking for there. Especially since their center depth isn't so great that Bennett is easily replaceable.

At no point does MTL consider that. WPG fans gonna have to prepare themselves to be disappointed since they don't get anything close to that.

Massive, colossal, insanely hard pass from Detroit. You can keep diva Scheifele and we'll keep our picks and prospects. Yuck.

Very fair and realistic value on the PLD trade. Montreal jumps all over that.

Not likely
Even PLD coming isnt enough to give up a Roy because French Goal Scorer's arent a huge commodity in the NHL and Roy has 30 goal potential in him IMO

Not saying he wont be traded, just saying we're giving up a lot for PLD , WPG has to give up something .
Assuming he's billingual like his Brother taking the same classes in high school , i'd say Morgan Barron makes it work and MTL throws in Mysak who by Barron's age projects in a similar bottom 6 role.

PLD (top 6 NHL Center undisputed)
M.Barron(Middle 6 Forward )

For

Beck(NHL ready or might need half a year in AHL)
Roy (Might make NHL likely needs a year to pack on another 5-7lbs in the off season )
Mysak (Good player , good positioning but no real strength espeically along the boards. needs 2 years minimum to pack on muscle.
& 14th OA pick in a deep draft

Nah, I can't see Winnipeg adding anything to PLD, they have no reason to. Roy being a 30 goal scorer is a huge stretch. Let's let him get to the NHL first.

Anyways the Jets are giving up a young 1C, that would be Montreal's best player by far and only getting a couple prospects and a mid first in return.

As we've talked before, the Jets would more than likely want a roster player back, that Montreal doesn't have, so they will need to add better prospects to be competitive.

I'm not saying Montreal has to do it, just if they don't then PLD is moved elsewhere.

This is a good example of what Yzerman would absolutely not dotears of joy

Rebuilding teams don't trade big assets away for a 30y old guy who is UFA in a year.

Beck and the 1st are within reason.
Adding Roy means taking Beck out.
We aren't giving 3 of our top prospects for PLD.

The 3rd piece has to be a lesser prospect or roster player which may be flipped for value and reduces the salary difference in the trade (ie: Dvorak).

Horvat comparable:
1sts are about equal (dependent on final position)
Beck >= Raty
Beauvilier > Dvorak (Unless Dvorak experiences a similar bump in production following the trade. Prior to the Horvat trade they would have had similar value at worse.)

(Again, I'm in the wait and see in UFA camp. No interest in trading picks/prospects at this time unless it's equal value for positions of need.)

Man wants an arm and a leg for Marky (30 y/o) and Neal Poink, and then acquires Elias Lindholm for less.

A full season of Dubois means nothing to us at this point.
NYI knew they were going to sign him, just like we know Montreal will sign Dubois after the fact as well.

You can let Dubois talk to other teams in hopes of a bidding war, but that is just as likely to have the opposite effect if he is non-committal.
The potential of him being more than a rental is floating his value. Remove that potential and his value will only drop.
I'm ignoring the outside speculation and simply assuming he would be moved "as is" for comparable value to Horvat.
Those speculative factors can either increase or decrease his value, so it's a wash. Any positive factor has as much likelihood as its opposite negative factor, so until those factors are actually realized, this is his value.

Dubois will get much less then Horvat, Winnipeg is coming with absolutely 0 leverage. Montreal has absolutely no reason to trade anything for him. Get him in the 2024 FA or just don't get him because we are more then good enough in the future without him, its that simple.

They had leverage, multiple teams wanted Horvat and all the teams knew it.
