Not as bad as Yzerman’s other FA moves the last two years (Holl, Chiarot, Copp), but could turn out badly. I like Compher though and don’t think it’s too much of an overpay

I feel like this happens a lot.

Amazing coach/GM with success goes to a new team. Bad results, but keeps getting excuses and security for his past success.

I thought the Yzerplan in Tampa was building thorugh the draft, all they have done the past two seasons is pick low-ceiling players in the draft and just done all free agent signings. What are the Red Wings doing?

I'd blame this on the owners. They want to win now and it's forcing Yzerman's hands. Also this contract is decent.

2 years from now this cap hit will be an afterthought, but Compher won't be available 2 years from now, so I think it's a win. Y'all just jelly that other GMs struggle with their cap space, while Yzerman just gets to do what he wants when he wants
