What It Might Cost Every Team To Acquire Trevor Zegras PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION

Created by: Bbpagewolf
Team: 2023-24 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 9, 2024
Published: Jan. 11, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With all of the rumors swirling around Trevor Zegras, I think we need to understand exactly what he would cost for teams to make a trade for him. My best guess based off of a combination of his skill level, his notoriety around the league, and how much better he can get in the future is that the minimum he goes for is a young roster player (age 25 or younger I’d say), a top prospect (age 23 or younger and/or either hasn’t played an NHL game or has played in about 10 or less NHL games), a 1st round pick, and a 2nd round pick. The picks could probably be either for 2024 or 2025, but I don’t think the Ducks will accept protected picks unless another mid round pick or mid level prospect is thrown in, so in order to not make things confusing I’m not gonna protect any picks. However, for teams with potentially higher picks, I will have the Ducks take back a bad contract as that would also probably have to be the case if the 1st being acquired has more value than Zegras. Also, if a team doesn’t have either a 1st or a 2nd for either 2024 or 2025 or doesn’t have both, then I will replace them with either the necessary amount of lower round picks to compensate or another prospect with a profile high enough to compensate. I will also not be retaining any salary as I don’t believe that would happen from any side in any Zegras trade scenario. This is obviously just meant to be speculative and for fun, so please keep it civil in the comments.

this is some of the funniest stuff i have seen, Zegras' value has tanked, better for ANA to keep him to see if he rebounds next season.

Zegras isn’t getting an Eichel package.

Absurd trades for a player with seven points this year and a career high of 65.

Boston does not trade Poitras for Zegras straight up. His immaturity is poor fit on the Bruins. Frederic off limits too.

Trevor Zegras Trade Comps

I imagine he would get a wide range of offers....but Ducks only need one good one.

There isn't a point of trading him. It doesn't mean if he isn't producing this year that it will continue. Everyone knows how good he can be so jus keep him.

take AZ out of this, no way. prolly every one of these is aburdly overestimating zegras value. He is an amazing skilled player, YES but while is still young he has alot to prove for a 200ft game, to warrant those returns.

Firstly, I'd like to applaud the effort you put into this. Putting this together must have taken a LONG TIME. It's not often you see this amount of work here. So good job.

Secondly, Zegras has a problem. Nobody is sure what it is, but he doesn't seem to be able to fix it. The kid as an attitude of a star, but hasn't accomplished enough to be called one just yet. He has offensive talent up the wazoo, but seems to think that backchecking is for other players. If Alvin traded for him in Vancouver, he would be benched by Tocchet more often than Kuzmenko. At $5.75M/season, Zegras needs to fix a few things, and rediscover his scoring ability, because without offensive or defense, he might as well be me.

Killorn needs to grab this kid and pound defensive responsibility into his head. Not a chance you get near what you expect I didn't look at the trades just reading your description. You aren't getting anything close to what you expect for a one way player with an I'm a star attitude.

How about being able to find Michigan on a map?

Ask yourself what a young Jordan Eberle should have returned in a trade, and that’s what Zegras is worth.

These asks are not realistic for this type of player, especially one as annoying and immature as Zegras.

A lot of these responses are hilarious. Shows a lot of people that know nothing about Zegras or his game. Just a bunch of people cradling a false narrative about a player to look cool.

NYR could probably live with that package, but would insist on Goodrow being included and might ask for Jacob Perrault being included. The good thing is the Rangers have additional assets to move in terms of prospects.

It’s ABSURD
I wouldn’t trade Thompson for Zegras no matter what they added on
I frankly don’t think the Sabres will have serious interest in him at all- we are loaded at forward already
Unless he come cheap, there’s no point
And these proposals are ridiculous
