So two cap dumps, a goalie that Ullmark was better than. Some late first round picks and some prospects, I think the Sabres decline.

Literally outside of Crosby and Malkin, the Pens couldn’t make a trade happen without it being ridiculous amount of quantity, and then why would BUF do it because they wouldn’t be getting cap relief.

Don’t forget that we’ll retain, because why tf not. Make it 2M per year in retention, or better yet 3 per year

I wouldn't really call them cap dumps. Bjugstad was just injured all year and Horny is overpaid by a mil, but both can score 20+ every year. either way salary would have to go back to BUF from PIT. What would you be looking for from PIT?--I understand PIT can't give the best offer but...
Poulin is our top prospect, PO Joseph is up there also.

Yeah this ain’t gonna happen. You’d be lucky if this package landed you a 2nd line Centre over 30. It’s pretty ugly sorry.

Pittsburgh doesn't have the pieces to get Jack Eichel out of Buffalo, Both Bjugstad and Hornqvist are cap dumps. And why would Buffalo want Murray they've Ullmark and their one Goalie prospect as their future Goaltenders. This is bad for Buffalo.

I don't think there's anything PIT can offer unless they wanted to give up Malkin or Crosby. BUF is going to want an elite center in return because they aren't rebuidling. MAYBE they'd do Guentzel+Poulin? But agian, they need centers.

I'd like to get a legit 2nd center and let malkin play with crosby for his final 2 seasons as a penguin

I'm willing to build a package around Malkin as the main piece going to Buffalo. Crosby is a hard no. With Malkin being the big piece, Guentzel, Doumulin, Letang... maybe Marino are no's as well.

Maybe Malkin, Murray (RFA), + for Eichel, +

what makes you think that Malkin wants to play wing?

He's been a center his whole life.

Malkin probably retires a penguin, unless he really slows down his contract ends and he's not willing to take less.

Here's the thing with that though. Malkin wouulnt' waive and why would BUF want him. if they trade Eichel then its to spread the wealth and postpone contending for a couple more years. Aside from McCann/Simon/Erod/Murray/Jarry what young players does PIT have in the NHL that they would give without leaving a hole in the team?

I think we can both agree that this trade is bad for Buff, but lets be clear, Murrays value is MUCH higher than Ullmarks.

Murray struggled this year but every season of Murray’s career has been significantly better than Ulmark. The two goalies aren’t even comparable.

the Pens legitimately don't have anything to give up of value that would make the deal work. Only way to get him is through Sid/Geno/Guentz, which isn't worth it

strats? that means there is a more?

I would only do that one for one. Jakes a 40 goal guy in his own regard.

I would not trade Guentzel cuz of the way he fits the team, but Eichel is a better player than him & it’s not even remotely close. Last season, Eichel scored at a point per game & this year was on pace for 43 goals & 94 points. Gotta take into consideration that Jake was playing with sid & Geno, the 2 best centers in the game whereas Eichel doesn’t play with anyone elite. If Eichel was playing on the wing with Sid/Geno, he’d be putting up 50 goals 110 points every season. Not saying Jake is bad, but you’re comparing a franchise player to an elite player. There’s quite a big difference there.
