And we traded Burns for Coyle. The trickle down effect of letting Burns go looks awful if you follow the trail.

To me a good deal for the Sharks. Gets a player that you play at the NHL level for a pick 3/4 years away.

Very cheap price for a versatile center that the Sharks desperately need. Good trade for SJS.

As a Wild fan, I'm not sure if the Wild know what the Wild are doing. Hopefully, there's a plan?

Mandatory reminder that MiN gave up Coyle for Donato. What a disastreous trade...

He has a chance to earn a top 6 role for us. If he shows up he’ll get a full time job.

So Minny turned Charlie Coyle into a 2021 3rd and Cade Webber...wow!

This trade and the Dubnyk trade seem to be very bad for the Wild.

The Wild have to the most directionless team in sports.

Good job trading Charlie Coyle for a 3rd round pick.

Hard to imagine what Guerin has in mind here.

Sharks takes the win here imo.
Good morning,
I have a question for anyone who's been watching Donato.
How is he only worth a 3rd round pick in next years draft?
I thought his value would close to someone like Kapanen?
Ryan Donato:
- Drafted = 2014
- Position = C + LW
- Cap Hit = $1,900,000
- Expires = RFA in 1 year
- Career = 130 NHL games
- Points =
0.44 per game
- Goals =
0.24 per game
Kaspari Kapanen:
- Drafted = 2014
- Position = RW only
- Cap Hit = $3,200,000
- Expires = RFA in 2 years
- Career = 200 NHL games
- Points =
0.44 per game
- Goals =
0.20 per game
Ignorant Conclusion:
- They're the same age and both have RFA expiry
- They have the same career points per game
- Donato has a better career goals per game
- Donato plays a more valuable position
- Donato has a significantly lower salary
How does that translate into the following trade values?
Ryan Donato:
- Round 3 pick = 078th overall
(estimate)
Kaspari Kapanen:
- Round 1 pick = 015th overall
(upcoming)
- Round 2 pick = 058th overall
(Filip Hallander)
- Round 7 pick = 200th overall
(Rodrigues value)
I'm assuming Toronto got better value than Minnesota.
But can someone please explain what I'm missing?
Is there some glaring flaw in Donato's game?
