I just want Tampa to finally be affected by the Cap for once.

It won't happen until the team naturally declines. They're a well-managed team that have desirable talent mostly locked up into contracts that other teams actually want. Any one of Killorn, Palat, or Stamkos will have plenty of suitors in a trade. If that wasn't the case, they wouldn't have signed Sergachev.

What is obnoxious about this? he got 100k less than McAvoy and 200k less than Werenski who are both better. This deal is about as ballpark as it gets, maybe even on the high side

Yeah I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't think this is a huge steal

Can Boston fans really talk with McAvoy at 4.9?

This deal is similar to McAvoy's, for a bridge deal from a player who wants to stay in Tampa and compete this is more than reasonable.

Give it time. Still have Cirelli and Cernk to sign while $2m over the cap. Just as most Tampa fans have assumed, signing Sergachev was going to be priority #1. Parting ways with RFAs, picks, and/or prospects is coming.

Ya. They were completely different types of free agents. McAvoy couldn’t sign an offer sheet.

Why obnoxious? 4.8m for a 3 year bridge in a non taxed state seems fair. Especially on a defending champion team. Good deal for the lighting and sergachev.

Exactly, and I believe in year 3 his AAV is 7.2 Mil, so thats gonna be the qualifying offer along with Point having to be qualified at 9 Mil. They are likely going to hit that level of expectation, but they arent going to be able to get away with playing the market again when they have to pay up and Kuch, Stamkos, Hedman, McDonough, Vasy, and Johnson (assuming he doesnt get cap dumped) are still on the books at that time

Ok then look at Werenski, 200k for a better player in a place with state tax is the better deal

Good, finally. Now we will see Cirelli sign for something like DeBrusk got. 3 years x 3.5-3.75 just watch.

what do you mean, just bc they got this deal done...the cap is still going to get them with having to sign both Cirelli and Cernak still. now being over the cap, they wont be able to sign either of them until they move money out since they will be above the max allowable of 10% over the cap during the offseason.

They need to move quick to make cap room for those RFAs now they are sitting idle until then

I knew he'd sign a team friendly bridge deal and I think their other two RFA'S will as well.

Well his QO is going to be 5.76M, they changed the rules with the new CBA

Those were the two contracts I was thinking were his comparable.

Market value IMO.

I believe it is now the lower of 2 options:
a) QO = AAV of final year of contract (7.2M)
b) QO = 120% of contract AAV (5.75M)

So it should be 5.76M

Does that only apply for contracts signed after the new CBA? Because not having 9M be the QO on Debrincat's next contract would be pretty nice, although I think he'll earn it anyway
