I wouldn’t get too exited just yet. Yes he’s scoring points but I feel everyone on Finland’s back end will have inflated points this year because of heinola. Heinola is literally playing 5-7 minutes a night more than every other d-man and is taking all the tough assignments (he’s getting double shifted a lot). Yes niemela is looking good, but take it with a grain of salt. He’s being played solely in an offensive capacity to create offence and that’s what he’s doing.

Just what I think after seeing what Finland so far.

I definitely wouldn’t call him the next heiskanen, not even close imo

Sure as long as a TOR prospect does well in a tournament he instantly becomes a franchise level prospect.

No wonder some of them call Sandin the next Lidström.

Plenty of players have had success at the WJCs and never had success in the NHL.

I'm enjoying Cole Caufield being outscored by defenseman we picked in the 4th round.

Sandin was the best defenceman prospect outside the NHL last year........put on a show at last year's World Junior Tournament........been training hard and putting on weight this summer and anticipate he is going to arrive with the Leafs.......agree with you that he has the potential to be another Lidstrom because of the way he thinks the game.....he is miles ahead of most player's in positioning and is a future first pairing defenceman for years in the NHL.
