2 games was expected, not fair. The dops set a precedent this time around. Anything more than 4 would have been unfair but this is completely fair.

Before I saw the 4 games, I said he should have been suspended for the series, but I also understand you can't suspend someone for a variable amount of games. I think 4 games is the right amount. Mark is NOT AT ALL a dirty player. This was one of the dirties plays I've seen this year. This is one of the rare instances where I completely agree with the NHL breakdown of the play. He knew the game was over and he wanted to send a message. He never attempted to play the puck, in fact went out of his way to avoid the puck.

No, Reaves should have gotten 4. This is justified.

The sad thing is, there was a minute left in the game. He could have kept skating and at least tried to prevent a goal and give his team a chance. The opportunity was there. Such a shame because he is one my favorite players to watch

So here's my take on the thought process using what I went through (just a hypothesis):
Evans is thinking - I can be a star and put the dagger in the Jets!
Scheifele had time in his ice-length skate and was thinking "Not in My House"

You realize blades on ice don’t have much friction right? He’s going top speed when he starts gliding, he’s still going 90% of that when he lays the hit

That's the point though. He could have given 100% effort and kept skating and that slight increase in speed would have allowed him to stop the puck. He wasn't ever trying for the puck. Watch the NHL breakdown. It's one of the rare breakdowns that actually make sense.

One of my favorite players is Duncan Keith. He's also NOT a dirty player. He got frustrated in the playoffs twice and made two dirty plays. It doesn't make him and Mark bad people. You get reprimanded and try to learn from it.

That’s a fair take. I don’t think I’ve seen that particular breakdown but I’ve seen a few. I thought you might have been implying that because he wasn’t striding all the way it wasn’t charging or something, I’ve seen an unbelievable amount of people who don’t understand simple physics say it can’t be dirty because he wasn’t skating at the end so he couldn’t be going that fast lol. I agree if he had actually kept skating and gone for the poke check he coulda prevented the goal and maybe today we’re calling him the hero for stopping it if they scored in the last minute, but alas. Missing 4 playoff games for a guy as competitive as Scheifele should teach him something. At the end of the day you just gotta hope Evans is okay and we see less of this.
