exactly. like how could no one table an offer better? i think adams shot himself in the foot by being so picky with offers that other gms just didnt bother counter

Yeah i agree. I have to guess that Buffalo thinks very highly of Krebs or there is something they know that we don't about Eichel. I was expecting more along the lines of a Boldy Rossi 1st & mid prospect with my value of Eichel being lower than some, so my only guess is that Buffalo sees something in the value they got and are waiting to announce a flip of Tuch for even more. Only time will tell i guess...

Adams botched this point blank. If Eichel got surgery even just 1 month ago or even better 2-3 months ago; Eichel would likely get much more return because teams cant afford to lose this many pieces for Eichel this early in the season and the only reason why Buffalo got such a ****ty return is because they mishandled this Eichel situation so poorly.

Eichel is probably the best player to be traded since EK, and before that I couldn't find much.

yet he got a worse return than Jones (yes that was a stupid trade for the Hawks) but Buffalo could have gotten so much better if they had just grown up and let the kid FIX HIS OWN DAMN BODY I MEAN HELLO; its his neck, no one wants fusion lol

Don’t know if this has been mentioned on the thread before, but if Buffalo gets Tuch/Mittlestadt/Jokiharju back they’ll be $1.9 million below the salary floor.

Probably not Hall of Fame, but he’s one of the better ones that won’t be in it.

If that’s the case I don’t think you can build a team then.

I still can’t believe the senators selected Tyler Boucher over Cole Sillinger

Yep, Sillinger looks good right now and will be a nice top 6 center in the future,

Vegas is gonna be crap by 2025

I strongly disagree with this. Their prospect pipeline is full of pretty solid young players, and they’ve already got the high end talent, so they don’t really need stars, all they’ll need is guys to fill out the lineup, like middle six guys, and 3rd pair D with maybe a 2nd pair D thrown in, which they should be able to easily find in their system. Dugan and Elvenes are close to cracking the lineup up front (probably next year when they’re penny pinching they’ll need those ELCs), and Dean, Brisson, Dorofeyev, and Morozov are good prospects too. On the back end, even if Petro is a 2nd pair guy by 2025, Theodore will still be a Norris contender and Hague+Whitecloud are solid. Plus they’ve got some good prospects there too (Chayka, Cormier, Coghlan). In net they’ve got Logan Thompson, who was stellar in the AHL last year. Assuming they lose Smith (likely this summer), Pacioretty (when his contract is up), Dadonov (not a big deal), McNabb, and Martinez, they should still be pretty solid with the prospects stepping in gradually. Eichel+Stone will still be carrying, Wild Bill is fine at 2C, Patrick, Stephenson, Roy, and Kolesar are all fairly young NHLers that might grow. The hardest hole to fill is probably 1LW, but they’re an attractive free agent destination so that shouldn’t be much of a problem. Plus they could even afford to play a random guy there (maybe Stephenson or something) because Eichel is a top 10 C and Stone is a top 5 RW. I think Vegas will very likely win a cup in the next 3 years (maybe multiple) and their next wave of kids is solid enough to keep them contenders until Eichel can’t be a 1C anymore (which will likely honestly be a decade from now).

Surprised Vegas went with Tuch over giving up an extra pick and Smith.

Either way I dont think Buffalo plans to keep Tuch long term unless they continue doing well so probs at the draft or next year he gets flipped

Wonder where he goes

Tuch has term though so they can hold him hostage

Kevyn Adams also came out and said the report was bogus, so a further hit to Weekes' credibility

Senators needed a center, Sillinger has 1C upside and he plays a style that would fit that team perfectly.

Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Stutzle-Sillinger-Brown

Quoting: yikes
bro.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Timmy - Pinto/ Sillinger - Brown
Formenton - Sillinger/ Pinto - Paul
Sanford - Tierney - Watson/ Ennis

Thats a very exciting lineup

Please stop I’m still not over this lmao, I woulda preferred Lucius (a sniper who can play C or RW effectively, depending on how good Pinto is, they’d probably both be on Stutzle’s line regardless), but was willing to settle for Sillinger (gritty scoring centre), Svechkov (2-way centre who performs excellently with talented wingers), or either goalie. That would have ACTUALLY sealed the rebuild imo. I’d even have accepted Coronato as the sniper for Stutzle and Pinto to play with. Drafting a guy who projects as a 3RW and would likely have been available by our next pick an entire round later is near inexcusable with our rebuild so close to being done. Even if he turns out as a 2RW I highly doubt he’ll be better than all of Lucius, Sillinger, Svechkov, and Coronato, which is the burden he’s faced with to even pretend like he was an okay selection. I’m not sure why Dorion hates snipers so much, like he passed on Kaliyev twice to take Thomson and Pinto, and while I like Pinto a lot, I’m still not completely sure he has Kaliyev’s upside, and while Thomson is solid, he’s not a star and is another case of a guy that probably woulda been available at 32 (our next pick) that draft. He also passed on Tomasino and McMichael, both of whom woulda been better selections at 19, and then likely coulda taken Thomson at 32. I almost feel like Dorion should be our draft guy for anything in the 2nd round or later and the 1st round pick should just be whoever the consensus BPA is lmao, he’s solid at finding steals like Jarventie (although this is another case of a decent pick that likely coulda been had later), Guennette, and Sharkolov, but his 1st round choices seem like he’s trying too hard to big brain things, which is only a good strategy in the 2nd and later, and even then only good if you’re actually a good scout (which I think he is, which is why it’s viable for him then, but again, not in the 1st).

Very much off topic in terms of the Eichel talk but I just found out that in terms of games played Mikael Granlund is the most experienced active Finnish player in the NHL right now. He's 29...
