The Canucks reasoning for wanting to move Garland is to free a bit of cap space and bring in a RHD. They aren’t retaining just to bring in an AHL level winger while not saving any cap. If you want to dump Armia on us it’ll cost a 1st

Your guy isn’t better than Armia. Garland has 3yrs left at 5M. Armia has 2yrs left at 3.4M. If we didn’t have too many NHL caliber forwards Armia would have probably matched Garland in term of points so basically 3. The reality of it is that Garland value has hit rock bottom. Your reasoning doesn’t make sens, you’re telling me a team will take on his 4.9M cap with 3 yrs left without sending a dump back to help y’all make space for a RD? Garland is in the same category of Mantha and Armia. He isn’t better.

Eklund is more reliable than Tony Marinaro, less reliable than everyone else.

Garland has considerably more value than Armia. There are other teams that have interest in Garland, the same can't be said for Armia.

I wonder why he’s still a Canuck then.

Garland is a far better player than Armia it isn’t even close lol

Armia hasn’t put up more than 14 points since 2019/20

Garland in the last 4 seasons
46 points in 81 games, 52 points in 77 games, 39 points in 49 games, 39 points in 68 games

Garland has also had elite 5v5 metrics, and is good defensively as well. He’s a 2nd liner making 2nd line money. Maybe 500K overpaid at most. Armia is an AHL level player making 3.4M

The last big prediction by Marinaro was the Caufield's extension one or two days before the announcement (and he is the only one who said that....)

The Canucks don't like any of the offers they have received for him. It's hard to move players when no one has cap space.

Canucks easily decline. The point of moving Garland is to create cap space. Taking a major downgrade from Garland at $5 mil to Armia at $5 mil makes zero sense.

This. Plus, MTL would need to add a 2nd to any team taking him.

Armia too slow for nhl, bo candidate in summer, @2x 3.4m cap & 2x 4.3m avg salary. Cost 2nd+3rd to shed.
Garland blah spare W @3x 5m cap & 3x 5.7m avg salary. Cost 2 2nds to shed. He tried to sell himself @3.1m cap with no takers!! Here you have him @ 3x 3.5m cap & 3x 4m avg salary. Still cost a 2nd to shed.
Making this a fair trade with that 3rd in reality

Let's face the reality: Montreal is not trading for Garland, period.
They are focused on the rebuild, not bringing in MORE disappointing overpaid small wingers.

Yes he is. He is much better than Armia. Armia already went back to sleep. He should play 4 games in Laval for every game in MTL.

If Eklund is the one reporting it, you know it is 100% NOT happening.

I have better sources than him, and I've got none.

Rather keep Dvorak if it happens. Just don’t want to add another underzided winger who is being overpaid with term.

Dvorak is overpaid with term. Defensive liability who had never hit 40 points in his life

He's still way more valuable than Garland.
