Conroys streak of questionable trades continues. Trading Hanifin was a prime opportunity for the Flames to recoup some good futures, but they somehow managed to completely blunder the trade of one of the best players on the market. I guess the 1st isn't bad, although at this point it'll probably be 32nd overall and I do like Miromanov, but that just isn't enough. This is down right horrible for Calgary, and to make things worse they settled on this with a divisional rival...

For Vegas, this is a move that propels them even further towards the Cup. The idea of pairing Hanifin with Pietrangelo is terrifying. He's still got so many years of good hockey left in him, and it seems like Vegas will be able to get him re-signed. I already felt bad for any team in the west that has the misfortune of coming across Vegas in the playoffs, and it's even scarier now that they've bolstered their already stacked blue line while also still having room to add another huge asset. It's already game over for the rest of the league, we better hope the Knights don't land Buchnevich or Guentzel. Must be so nice having a front office that is just flat out fantastic.

Amazing deal for Vegas. Such a win in my opinion. Fair value definitely. He’s going to pay off in the playoffs for us. Hopefully we can still get Guentzel

Good luck scoring aganist Vegas defense

Bad trade for the flames. A 26 year old d-man and a late 1st and most likely late 2nd for the best d-man on the market isn't good at all. If I was Calgary I would of asked for one of Hague, Brisson or Enstrom

If I'm CGY I don't do anything without Hague or Edstrom. Disappointing return.

Flames said this guy would cost something like Cormier, Brisson, a 1st and a roster move though….

Yeah the Flames absolutely fumbled this deadline. The 1st they got isn't even guaranteed for 2025 and they couldn't even get an actual roster player or decent prospect out of it.

GMs just really love getting bent over backwards by Las Vegas, don't they?

Guessing the return was so bad due to the M-NTC and extension not being in place.

Watch him sign an extension tomorrow and totally dick the Flames

If Vegas trades it somewhere else before March 10th, Calgary gets the 2026 first round pick instead

So it's essentially only a 2025 if Vegas doesn't trade a 2025 first before the deadline

1. Top 10 protected in 2025, so it falls to 2026 if it's top 10 in top 2025.
2. The March 10 protection is essentially if they want to trade their 2025 first round pick to someone else this deadline they can, in which case Flames get the 2026.

That Vegas blueline is terrifying now this is great for them. This is brutal for Calgary. Only getting a little bit more than what Chiarot got is sad.

Don't think Calgary or VGK should have made the move in the first place, but the value seems pretty fair for Calgary if he wasn't resigning.
Don't understand why Vegas adds a defenceman when they need a forward more (i.e., Guentzel).

Just a weird trade all around, relatively low value for Hanafin, and for Vegas they didn’t really need a defenseman. But hey with this Vegas has the best defence in the nhl now probably

No ones gonna tell the Flames Miromanov can just take his qualifying offer and then walk in the 2025 offseason? Ya know the whole reason they have traded so many others before him?
