It's a weird contract, but now NYI doesn't have to worry about the 4C slot for a long time. The reasonable cap hit will prevent this contract from hurting too much even if Cizikas falls off a cliff.
Good contract. Cizikas and the Isles basically agreed to trade AAV in exchange for term. Also, Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck isn't just an identity line; it's likely the best 4th line in the NHL in terms of defensive analytics. There's a reason why Lou and Trotz hug onto them so tightly.
Great signing if Cizikas can play like he has the past few seasons, this shows how far the Isles have come since 2017-18, Cizikas was reported to get 5M from Seattle, and he takes half of that to stay in NYI

The fact that Seattle gave Wennberg essentially the same contract that he was bought out from kind of confirms that they were willing to grossly overpay for any relatively sentient center that they could possibly find.
Four years at $4 million or 6 years at $2.5 million? I think both parties made the right choice. Islanders can afford to bury the last two years if his performance falls off a cliff, so who cares about the term?
Guys good enough to be a 3C and is an important part of the Isles team. Id rather have Cizikas than Goodrow. Good signing.
You say he's good enought to be a 3c but the islanders didn't agree and acquired pageau because of it. He's a passable 3c and a good 4c. It's a little expensive. Certainly better than the goodrow or tanev contracts.

It doesn’t matter if the islanders agree, he has provided 3C value over the last 3 seasons and the only reason he doesn’t put up more points is because of his linemates. He drives play at both ends of the ice.
