The refs are bad really really bad.
2 players got hurt today from penalties that were not called and one of them was a shoulder to head hit direct on Martin fer. Tom Wilson is out because of injury.
Puck deflected off the ref as it was going out and it was supposed to be dead but they called nothing so empty net goal. Ugh. 7 men are out now. Also we play tomorrow. Yay😤😤😤. This is worse than the Canadians

Caps Postgame notes: 4-2 Loss vs Pittsburgh

- These officials should not ref another game this year. I try to stay away from complaining about refs, since many times you only see one side, but these ones absolutely handed the game to Pittsburgh. The lowlights:

Headshot to Fehervary not called, Feh likely now has a concussion.

Clear interfence on a delayed penalty was not called, resulting in Wilson slamming into Jarry. Wilson did not return to the game.

A puck going VERY CLEARLY off the netting in the Pittsburgh zone that was uncalled, which lead to the empty netter that sealed the game. I don’t think I’ve been this infuriated watching a Caps game in quite some time.

- other than the refs, the caps refused to shoot from inside, almost all of their shots coming in from way outside. Jarry looked amazing when given soft serve chances, but as soon as Washington put pressure on him, he gave up two goals. Washington clearly found this far too late.

- SHOOT THE EFFING PUCK. On the second of two power plays, the Capitals passed around in the zone for more than 30 seconds against 3 and 1/2 players (Boyle was without a stick)

Wish I had more to say about this game, but unfortunately I missed almost the entire first period, due to DC drivers forgetting how to drive in the slightest of rain, and a parking garage managing to run out of parking even if you have a reservation.

Overall not a fun night.

My overall thoughts on the hawks so far:


Not including the scandal this season has been a mess a 1-9-2 start Colliton was finally fired and Derek King seems to have things under control now, this team has pretty much gone from complete awful to inconsistent now I have to hope we take the next jump from inconsistent to the team I hoped we’d be before the season if not at least we know that Derek King is someone we hire full time.

I would have called it if it wasn’t for the ref at the end. Caps lose 3-2😉 and lose by one. Oh well.

On the Bright side the Hershey Capitals nearly beat Pittsburgh so theres hope for when everyone’s finally back

Why do teams keep their injuries so vague all the time? It’s either “upper body injury” or “lower body injury”. How severe are we talking here, bruised ribs or a collapsed lung?

Teams are trying to mask the exact injury locale so those players are not 'open-season' targets post-IR...

So many officials these days telling players to "**** Off" lul

8 so far have been noticed with 3 being caught via broadcast

Because they think it gives them a competitive advantage if their opponents don’t know who is in and out of the lineup until 5 minutes before puck drop. Same reason several teams don’t announce starting goales. Royal pain in the ass for fantasy owners, and honestly it will have to change if the NHL wants to be taken seriously in the sports gambling sphere. I will almost certainly have a different outlook on the game if the backup is playing and not the starter. Can’t have a last mniute goalie start announcement, or an “oops actually MacKinnon is healthy and playing tonight” messing up the betting lines.
