I honestly think that with the Dadonov situation if there's no one clearly at fault for it, but rather we have several misunderstandings piling on top of each other, NHL should just allow VGK to trade Dadonov to a team where he accepts to get moved in the manner where he CAN play for the team this season, despite the deadline closing yesterday.

All participants are winning. VGK clears the cap they need to, ANA doesn't have to take a player in who doesn't want to play there and Dadonov gets to play.

Win win solution imo.

As someone who is not a fan of the salary cap I hope he doesn't get traded, VGS has to deal other players off their roster to get cap complaint, further pissying off its current core. And the owner/GM trying to explain how this got so f'd up

They'd have to clear a rather significant amount of cap to be under it if the Dadonov trade gets voided.

Just don't think any players should be forced into situation where their season is effectively over.

The islanders could trade Dobson for two 2nd rd picks this offseason and half the fanbase/bloggers would defend Lou

Sabres would have interest. I would think.

Or they don't take Stone off LTIR which I am sure they want to seeing how they could miss the playoffs. I feel pretty confident moving Dadonov was to have the ability to do that. Now they will just have to roll with him

Toronto fans still begging Lou to come back

After that Zaitsev and Marleau contracts

And bad draft class (except for the big guys)

Only good thing was the Rielly, Hyman, Kadri, Brown, and Anderson contracts and 2 trades

But most of his other trades or moves yeah no. 2 2nds in 2 years for rental guys who he planned on making our 4c great

The thing is, if he's healthy they can't take keep him on LTIR. Legally that is.

I'm not a Lou hater, I can still acknowledge he's made some solid moves with the isles, but it's absurd that the fanbase/bloggers can't admit when he f*cks up. Toews trade was strike 1 for me, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I heard Trotz was really pushing him to keep Leddy. Going into this season with Greene/Chara as the 2LD as well as not selling yesterday is a fireable offense. His time here should be done.

lol dude played in the all-star (Stone) before he went on LTIR. No **** he is healthy. I hope this blows up all over VGS. Let's be real, they are soooooooooooo far over the cap when healthy. They did this to themselves.

one narrative going around isles twitter + athletic comment section is that Lou had to keep Clutterbuck , Greene , Chara because loyalty is more important than mid rd draft picks and this will be attractive to free agents.

no one talks about the fact that Lou traded Devon Toews a day after his wedding...

Its the same in Toronto. He constantly pushed to make these easy cheap depth moves rather than reward the team

Or heck in free agency give a bunch of old guys way to much (Hainsey + Marleau)

It was like he didnt want progress.

Like honestly would not have surprised me if he did what he did to Toews to Nylander. Traded him for undervalue

They can actually still trade players today but those players won’t be able to play any regular or playoff games

Tough sell for the player and acquiring team

Yeah I've been saying this all TD. Dadonov is going to refuse to go to Anaheim only to be forced to sit the rest of the year

He definitely made bigger moves with the isles (pageau, palmieri) but I get your point. My problem with Lou is "its a business at the end of the day" for certain players while he's loyal to players who provide nothing to the team.

Here’s certain draft fits I really like:
1) Seattle - Wright . (Wright , Beniers 1-2 punch)
2) Sens - Slafkvosky (Slafkvosky with Jimmy will be insane )
3) Montreal - Nemec - you get basically another Subban in his prime.
4) Philly - Savoie. High offensive talent , in their range too.
5) Devils - Jiricek ( a future top 4 of Hughes-Jiricek , Mukhamadullin-Hamilton)

If the trade is negated I believe he can still play in VGS since nothing happened. But ****, I thought I knew how LTIR worked but VGS going after Kesler's LTIR contract while already having players on LTIR made no sense to me. Just going to sit this one out as I don't know lol

K so what happens if vegas can't be cap compliant? What's the consequences of being over the cap?

It's a hard cap. You can not ice a roster that isn't cap compliant for that day/game. You'll be forced to re-submit your lineup. (We see this occasionally with teams playing down a skater or two.)

If for some reason it did slip through, you forfeit any games you are over, and may be investigated for circumvention. (That allows for penalties including fines and draft pick forfeiture.)

Meanwhile in Finland.

That hit lead to a game misconduct. And most likely a suspension, too.
