Rangers could have kept Motte in the summer but instead they qualified Sammy Blais

Gauthier was on waivers earlier this season

I thought Motte 50% retained could have gotten a better pick. He has shown he's a good playoff performer.

Pretty fair trade, Rangers know what they're getting (but they could've re-signed him but it's whatever). Gautheir could still grow into a 3rd line checking guy, but he's just not there yet. Little 4th line trade

Like this trade for both teams. Motte looked great early in the season, but has been invisible for the past 30 or so games. He has played great before and hopefully can regain that confidence from earlier this season. Gauthier is okay nothing special will play bottom 6 and adds some size for Ottawa and most likely a 6th with it. Fair deal for both I would say.

fair deal, Motte's a good bottom 6 guy and Gauthier's a usable player with an inkling of potential
