Did not expect that
TBL don't have a lot of cap space remaining

What the two Ryan McDonagh trades between Nashville and Tampa look like when put together:

Tampa's 2025 2nd round pick
#213 overall pick

for

Phillippe Myers
Grant Mismash
Edmonton's 2024 4th round pick

This looks like a win for Nashville to me.

No 1st or 3rd pick last year, don't pick until late in rnd 4 this year and no 1st or 2nd in 25. Either Brisebois has accepted the rebuild will be ugly when the time comes, doesn't anticipate being around for it, or has some tricks up his sleeve.

Perhaps if Nash were retaining 25-50%... it might be fair.

While we clear cap space and a roster spot, I don’t like this deal. McDonagh is a great leader and has played rlly well. He’s also helpful with regards to instilling a winning culture. Gonna miss him a lot.

Fair deal, McDonagh was solid in Nashville and knows the Tampa org/system well, Nashville gets assets. What I don't get is how Tampa thinks they can afford McDonagh

Not that McDonough is bad, but with what cap space is Tampa affording this lol? Stammer is essentially guaranteed to be gone now unless he takes a massive discount (like 3 mil or less lol) or they trade another core player (Cerelli, Sergachev?)

This is insanely confusing for Tampa.
They are clearly drowning and trying galaxy brain moves.. that may flop.

And insanely good for the Preds.
They are clearly planning something. Lost a good player but got a great return.

The classic retread move from a dynasty at the end of its life cycle.

Opens up Nashville for a bunch of interesting opportunities. Jake Chychrun?

(1) Is McDonogh that good still?
(2) Is Tampa hurting on D that badly?

Yea this one is just confusing to me. Tampa seems like the last team in the NHL that can take on a soon-to-be 35 year old at $6+ AAV...

Oh god... the flood of Acgm's created by which this news will spawn will be crazy.

Marner for Sauros isn't happening.
