Wow that's less and less Marner money for Toronto. Huge win for Vegas. and if Subban flops maybe Sparks will do well with less pressure. Who knows?
Less money for Marner ? Not sure what u mean? The Leafs save 750000$ in cap space as Clarkson will be placed on LTIR. Therefore they actually have more money to sign Marner
Trade Clarkson for LTIR Horton, than trade to regain Clarkson to join Horton on the LTIR, 11 million dollars well spent, better than giving it to sick kids hospital right MLSE ?.

This makes zero sense, i know Toronto had a lot of money but paying LTIR on his contract is worth at least a second, and Sparks too ... worst move for Dubas yet ... and I like Dubas.
Ugh I may be the minority here but I think we should have given Sparks another shot. He may or may not thrive in LV, but let's not forget that he won a Calder and goalie of the year in the AHL. It has to mean something, even though he had a horrible season last year. His reputation among fans was basically solidified after that, and his interview style didn't help either. Anyhow, I wouldn't call this a win for Toronto. Saving 750K might just help sign Marner though.
Edit:
Nvm I read into the reasons and it makes sense. Good luck in Vegas Sparksey!
I need an "unsure" poll option because I doubt anyone other than Pridham understands the LTIR stuff for this.
Boy, is this a smart move.
Leafs are hedging bets for a Marner holdout, which this trade will allow the Leafs to do without caving to Marner. It is complicated but read this thread. It makes everything make sense. This trade is nothing sort of a masterstroke and a huge W by the Leafs https://twitter.com/EarlSchwartz27/status/1153799226175848454
I need a leafs fan to explain to me why they traded Sparks
They have Neuvirth on a PTO, that might be a factor i guess.
I'm sure the Leafs didn't want to give up a skater and liked they young goalies they have.
(not a Leafs fan but throwing in my opinion anyway)
