Shattenkirk is a good bet at this price, and Tampa needed a RHD, as they are quite weak on the right side, but this does make their current cap situation quite tight, but they have deals they can juggle around, guys that are waivers expempt and a few contracts that aren't that huge that they can likely trade someone like paquette easily enough.

Next year is going to be tough though. They will have at least $78M committed to 15 players, with Sergechev, Cirelli, and Cernak left to sign, as well as a roster to fill. Only Killorn's contract can be traded without his permission, and between the restriction of only being able to trade him to about half of the league, and his contract being one of the worst they have on the books that won't be easy. They likely can get it done, but it will probably cost an asset. The problem is, that even after moving contract, things don't get very easy. They will have likely at least $73.5M committed to 14 guys, with 3 RFAs. If the cap is say $84M next year, that's less than $11M to sign 3 RFAs, and fill out a roster, they won't have much else they can move because of all of their full NTCs.

Tampa has done a good job of navigating fair contracts for their stars (although I really don't like Vasilevsky's contract), but they have handed out NTCs like candy to second tier guys, and that could prove a problem.
