I think the Blues just needed him as a temp when Binnington and Husso were out, but it seems strange that they would extend him if that was what they had in mind. Did that make him more valuable to the Devils or less?

I was thinking they might claim Khudobin off waivers, but this should suffice with Bernier out. But, the Devils defensive play has been so atrocious of late that I'm not really sure it matters who they have goal right now.

They have no cap for him with Binny back, no room for him in the AHL and he'd have to clear waivers anyway.

They didn't extend him. He left the team after last season and was with the Flyers' AHL team on a PTO when they plucked him back.
