So many teams need center depth, and he chose Arizona?!? You really must not want to compete for a spot. At least choose Seattle and play in a real arena.
So Minnesota traded a former third round pick for a second. ... Not even that, the signing rights to a former third round pick for a second. They win this one.
They had 8 picks in the first 2 rounds of this draft, they could afford it. Him not signing an ELC yet isn't really an issue, his advisors have spoken with Arizona and he's comfortable signing there. Russo wrote about it a few times in the last week or so on how Guerin was handling trading his rights. Easiest trade ever for him, he made McBain's advisors go out and find him the best deal. lol
Spending a 4th round pick or even a late 3rd on McBain would make more sense for Arizona.
Sounds like Guerin's stance was either McBain's advisors find him a team willing to give up a 2nd or McBain can wait until August to sign his ELC. Minnesota had a lot more leverage than people realize.
