Still don't see where he would fit on the Canucks though. Our LD's are Hughes, OEL, Rathbone. Apparently OEL is practicing playing RD which would allow Rathbone move up to 2LD when he is ready. Still, Lundkvist doesn't fit with Hughes (Having 2 5'10 d men on your top pair not ideal), and doesn't fit with Rathbone (Again, two sub 6' d men on the same pair)

The Canucks aren’t in a position where they can think like that. They just need guys with top pair upside. OEL might not even be replacement level in 2 years. Lundkvist has more upside than Rathbone, Canucks should be acquiring any good defenseman with upside and figure out the rest later

wont let me embed, engels basically is saying one of the options for dach is 4x3.5M

brings him one year away from UFA status... but thats pricey
if its a four year deal, something around high 2 mill (2.85? 2.9?) or low 3 mill (3, 3.05, 3.1) is the way to go imo

He was good at driving offense at even strength and on the PP. He was in a tough role. I see him as a #2 defenseman who can run PP1 and play in all situations

Tough player to gauge right now:

2021-22 Stats: 25 GP, 1 G, 3 A, 32 SOG, 13:56 TOI/GP, 15 BLK, 15 HIT, 3 TK, 15 GV

Didn't have the greatest underlying numbers but was also paired with Nemeth soooooooo

He played really well with Hartford, IMO playing him with a better LD in shelter 3 pairing mins could benefit him. He just needs ice-time

Ottawa or Buffalo?

There is no way he has more upside than Rathbone. Rathbone was a 1.02 points per game in the AHL. Lundkvist was 0.44 points per game in the AHL. Huge difference. I do not see Lundkvist as top pair quality. Again, I wouldn't mind acquiring him but they should definitely not pay too much. He is a worse player than Rathbone easily

Idk, Lundkvist is a RD, we need that and he has potential, maybe NYR would take Allen ( we’d take back Halak ) or maybe Drouin/Dadonov ( retained of course ) and we could sweeten it with a pick or prospect

No that was Schneider

Like honestly if I was NYR management here take Kakko + Schneider for Eichel all day as despite what people say that one two punch of Eichel, Zibanajad would be nice

Why has Justin Holl not yet been nicknamed 'Holl Monitor'?

More importantly, why is this what I'm thinking about in August?

Edit: September now.

Hockey Question of the day

What grade would you give your team this offseason?

For me, Devils get a B+.
Missed out on who I thought we would get but got the second best options. Instead of Gaudreau we got Palat. Instead of Slafkovsky, we got Nemec. Instead of Campbell/Kuemper, we got Vanacek.
Palat is a perfect fit for the Devils but I don't love that contract. Nemec-Hughes pairing will be amazing in the future. The FO still trusts Blackwood so getting a tandem with VV makes sense.
Haula trade was okay. I would have prefered just a pick for Zacha. Marino trade looks great but time will tell
Didn't throw away the future, but still improved

Don't see how it is comparable beyond this season. Rathbone basically lost an entire year of developement because he didn't want to leave his autistic little brother alone so he basically skipped a year. Even so, I honestly can't believe you are so high on Lundkvist. What he showed this year is nothing to be impressed about...

Would imagine he is looking towards a Pettersson/Barzal deal if he wants a bridge. 7+ for 3 years. He isn't a center but he deserves the money
