If he becomes extended and it’s like Mercer and a 2nd yeah. But if it’s Mercer , Walsh and a 1st with no extension then no chance

Very thankful Sammy Walker and Cole Gutman never signed in TBL. Both look like very good potential NHLers and having to face that in the Atlantic would not be fun.

He is because last year was perceived as just a down year due to other circumstances. This year it confirms it's him regressing and not just a down year.

He did bounce back, which was expected, just not as much as desired.
That included a playoff run for last season, as well as an unwanted contract coming back as well.
Petry for a 1st is an oversimplification. There were a lot of factors in play.

That's wild. What about high end scoring chances? odd man rushes? Feels like Montreal had all of the opportunities.

I want Meier, but not that bad. Mercer is virtually untouchable for me. Holtz + 1st Rounder + B prospect. If that's not enough then, oh well.

I thought it was gonna be Lehkonen for Barron one for one. I was happy Hughes got that 2nd too.

Some Avs fans said if the price for Lehkonen was a 2nd, they'd rather trade it for another player.

I mean, that’s a bit of an understatement, Pittsburgh also got Ty Smith and traded away Matheson, they didn’t trade Marino for Petry, they traded Marino for a younger, cheaper D, then moved Matheson for Petry

I understand that. They thought they were getting Petry who was better now and Smith who they thought would be better down the road. Instead they got someone worse now and someone who looks like their development has stagnated. Unfortunate
