Will be sad to see Yegor go. He was always one of my favorite Devils of past couple of years. He started his NHL career with this…his first goal in his second career game in OT against the B’s.
It followed with an unforgettable post-game interview in broken English, “I was just so happy and all the guys, so happy, were hugging me…”. Just pure joy.
On the ice, has a wonderful wrist shot…hard, accurate, quick release. His skating, which was a weakness when he was first eligible for draft, eventually became a strength. Defensively, with his long reach and quick stick, he is excellent at stripping pucks, blocking up passing lanes. After Nico, was our second best PK’er. Off the ice, he is an old soul. Already married with a child (last year we had only two dads on team). He has moved all around the lineup, from 1st line to 4th line, from both wings to center. He took it all with grace.
Yegor is a great, humble kid, who is nothing but a class act. Devils fans will miss him. And I will always root for him.
Calgary, I promise you will love him.
