Fair deal tbh. Toffoli is an expiring contract although he should have a really good year for NJ, and CGY gets the younger team controlled player who still has a lot of upside along with a decent pick.

Great return on toffoli. Flames get a useful player and a 3rd back. Not sure what the issue is here.

Gee, if Toffelli has a season like last it's great for Devils. Would Calgary have got more at TDL? Seems like a signal to other teams.....everyone is available from the seemingly tanking Flames.

Will be sad to see Yegor go. He was always one of my favorite Devils of past couple of years. He started his NHL career with this…his first goal in his second career game in OT against the B’s.

It followed with an unforgettable post-game interview in broken English, “I was just so happy and all the guys, so happy, were hugging me…”. Just pure joy.

On the ice, has a wonderful wrist shot…hard, accurate, quick release. His skating, which was a weakness when he was first eligible for draft, eventually became a strength. Defensively, with his long reach and quick stick, he is excellent at stripping pucks, blocking up passing lanes. After Nico, was our second best PK’er. Off the ice, he is an old soul. Already married with a child (last year we had only two dads on team). He has moved all around the lineup, from 1st line to 4th line, from both wings to center. He took it all with grace.

Yegor is a great, humble kid, who is nothing but a class act. Devils fans will miss him. And I will always root for him.

Calgary, I promise you will love him.

Well, to their defense, good players are usually worth a 1st. Hell, Toffoli was even worth a 1st a year ago!

We just entered the twilight zone 2 weeks ago, where Johansen, Hall, Hayes, Toffoli, etc. are not worth more than low value assets.

Ouch, if this is the level of return the flames can expect from Conroy then it's a shame they can't win the draft lottery 4 times in the next 6 years like Edmonton did.

I like Sharangovich, he should do well in Calgary where he should play a little higher up in the line up. You would think Toffoli would fetch a bit more at the TDL, but obviously the Calgary room needs some change, and maybe they didnt want to deal with a player who asked out all season, better to cut the cord now, and move on.

I wish the Canucks had been able to keep Toffoli, and Im not sure if his skating is a good fit for a fast NJ team, and I doubt he resigns there... they wont have much capspace to keep those good young players coming off entry level deals.

That #80 pick this year will still yield a good prospect in a very deep draft. The deal helps both teams now, but in the long run i think Calgary wins this.

Seems like a win-win deal to be honest. Devils get a player who gives them the best chance to win next year, and the flames get a young forward with a lot of room to grow. I don’t think this ages poorly for anyone.

I agree with the people who say that Toffoli should have returned at least a 1st and 3rd, even as a rental, but Calgary doesn’t want futures, so to them Sharangovich is probably worth more than a 1st (likely a late 1st if it’s coming from New Jersey). It’s risky to trade for an unsigned RFA with arbitration rights though. There’s a lot of uncertainty around cost and how long you can make him stick around. I thought they’d try to get somebody who’s signed with some term, but maybe this will work out better if they can get him to sign for a few years at a reasonable price, and his down year this past season was an anomaly.

Even though Toffoli is underpaid, I find it a bit surprising that New Jersey is taking on his cap hit for this season. I wonder if it means they’re not going to sign Meier, and Toffoli is being brought in to replace him.

They have the Flames 2025 1st which has a few clauses but could be as high number 2 overall, the Flames selling only helps

Who voted Calgary!?

This is a terrible trade for them. I know Toffoli wanted out and they were screwed with the cap, but still, they should have been able to get more.
