A UFA choosing to limit their contract to 2 years is an extremely interesting development

Going to be tough to get Korpisalo and Vilardi signed. Interested to see what LAK has up their sleeve.

Gavrikov is very good tough, and I'm glad LA kept him around. Obviously it seems very rich and the term is short, but I think it's still a decent signing depending on how they navigate the summer

No kidding, on the surface it doesn't make much sense at all.

I mean, the cap is projected to go up like 10 million once he is a UFA again. Lets him cash in on a long term contract when he's 29 and the cap is way higher

i heard the kings wanted to sign him long term so i do not know what the plan is for him. he'll be 29 when this expires and he might not get a higher aav.

I like it from Gavrikov's perspective - pretty good AAV for now but will also benefit from a large cap increase before he hits UFA again

Pretty safe bet for LAK too since theres a much smaller risk of regression from ages 27-29 than if they signed him long term into his mid 30s

Interesting how heavy the signing bonuses are. Obviously not the 1st player to do that, but stupid easy contract to move with value if they decided to pivot in 1.5 years.

I like it, they got their guy and they aren't locked into it if it doesn't work out.

Weird deal, but honestly I don't mind it for the Kings.
The 2 year term really limits the risk.

Almost 6mil for a defensive dman seems high. 2 year deal mitigates the risk for LA, but considering how much they had to pay just to afford him- it could look real bad if he moves on after just 2 seasons.

He's getting a little more than I would pay right now and he will be a UFA in two years, when the cap is expected to be at least $10 million more than it is right now. Bad move for LA.

Good term for the team. AAV is waaay too high for a guy who was a marginal defenseman until this year.

Graves is rubbing his hand and Kandre Miller should ask for more than this, even if he's a RFA without arbitrations rights.

I think it's a fair deal, AAV is maybe 500k too high but the low term makes it low risk

Well, I guess we know how the rest of this is going to pan out . . . $7.3 million cap space now; Bjornfot, Clarke, Kupari and Turcotte or Anderson-Dolan all at under $900,000 leaves $3.5 million for Gabe Vilardi and we're complete. I guess to the making of laws and the making of sausages, another process we don't want to watch is the making of the 2023-2024 Kings.

I'd still feel better about this . . . a whole LOT better . . . if we had our 2023 first instead of our 2024 pick.

We should be fine after we trade Durzi and Grundstrom.
