Extremely good deal for both sides. Mantha should fit like a glove, and Washington recoups some picks for a pending UFA who has had his ups and downs. Vegas also keeps their 1st to use for more buying (Guentzel 👀)

All things considered, this is an extremely fair deal. Good stuff

Pretty fair. 1st would've been amazing. I landed on 2nd + 3rd so pretty close

Fair deal I think.
VGK looking for some heavier bodies on the 3rd line maybe?
VGK still has 7 mil in cap space.

Washington wins, Mantha is not worth that much and Washington recoups assets for a pending FA

Vegas paid too much for a player who is on an overpriced contract.

Really fair deal for both sides. Vegas gets a guy already at 20 goals and the Caps get a decent return for a pending UFA.

I like this for Vegas. Mantha's a big body who already has 20 goals this year. Should fit in well

Yeah no, Washington got taken for a ride here. Mantha's the second best winger available at the deadline and they retained on his major contract, that should've been a 1st.

He was a cap dump at the beginning of the year, a bit of patience and a solid return, great for WSH!

Only people who solely look at player cards on twitter think Mantha is the 2nd best winger at the TDL. He plays 13 minutes a night and was considered a cap dump 5 months ago.

20 goals and 34 points is good for someone who was written off as a cap dump. Shouldn't sell your own assets short if you want to make the most off of them.

Okay, when this trade first appeared here, there was no cap retention, right?

This is a fair trade with 50% cap retention.

They still have the cap space for Guentzel and the assets

This isnt a deterrent for that.

When I look at this trade, a few things stand out to me:

1. Washington paid a 1st + a 2nd for Anthony Mantha and his full cap hit three years ago.

2. Washington is now receiving a 2nd + a 4th while needing to retain 50% of Mantha's salary.

3. Mantha is back to having a 20+ goal season like he did when he was with Detroit.

4. Before today, Mantha was having a 20+ goal season getting limited ice time on a mediocre team.

5. Even though he might have been a cap dump last season, it's clear that Mantha has turned his game around this season.

This is a home run for the reigning Stanley Cup Champions.

Vegas wins the trade.

Second best winger available is Tarasenko.

Mantha is a distant third.

Wow, what a great job by WAS. He was a for sure cap dump not even a few months ago. Vegas...be careful. 1 season in his career north of 67 games played. He's injured easily and often.

To get Guentzel it would've cost a 1st round pick, I think people forget that the Draft is in Vegas this year and so similar to the Rangers, they want to showboat on home turf.

That guy wont play hard during the playoffs to prevent any risk of injuring himself. His only motivation is a new contract.

As a french canadian, I should cheer for him but there's not heart in his game. He could be russian for all I care.

A 2nd is a big overpayment for a guy who was a capdump at the season's start.

Maybe VGS is hoping Roy, Carrier or Marchessault can have a good influence on him but I doubt it.
