Seider is the foundation piece, there version of hedman in the yzerplan, if he doesn’t hit elite status, the plan is scrapped and they start again, he’s not moved til they figure that out though, so it’s a few years

The package to get Seider would be so absurd, that it doesn't matter. Seider is as untouchable as any one in the league. Think Matthews or Marner when they were still on their entry level contract. That is what you would be looking at.

Sure Mathews is currently a much bigger star, but, given his contract demands I'd prefer the younger franchise dman vs the older franchise center.

That’s a fair post. I wondered what Detroit fans thought about him in regards to the rest of the league. I’d love the player and honestly would ask for a lot. But I wondered how interested Detroit would be in Nylander signed, Liljegren, and a couple firsts. I mean anyone can be dealt in this day and age.

That would be the baseline for sure. Nylander for 9 years at no more than 9m a year + Lily (who has top 4 D potential) and 2 x 1st (unprotected). Detroit would probably still pass though since they view Sieder as a potential future Norris candidate.

I just don’t see any team trading a player like seider so not surprised at the feedback. I may be in the minority but not totally sold on him - time will tell. Could be bias - leafs have owned the wings past few years - but he doesn’t strike me as a Norris winner one day 🤷🏻

Fans on here are going to overrate him based on his rookie season. He’s a good defenceman, yes. But he wasn’t that great in his second season so there’s still a lot of question marks.

Value isn’t the question. He likely isn’t available because Detroit just doesn’t have anyone to replace him.

Maybe you can answer your own question. Seider is under Wings contract for five more season. Seider looks like he's going to a top RHD in the league.

Tons of question marks. Has a phenomenal rookie year, then follows it up with a questionable second year. Nothing guarantees he’s the guy from the 1st year - nothing also guarantees he’s the guy from the second year. But fans on here immediately jump to his 1st year success and deem him untouchable and McDavid level value because of it. I can personally tell you, it would take a lot to move him but he is absolutely not untouchable.
