Finally... and a decent contract, too. But I can't help but think that this holdout was unnecessary from the Ducks side of things

I mean... it's a great value for 3 years, but I still think Anaheim is dumb as bricks not locking him in long term.

Amazing it took them this long to throw less than 6 million dollars at Trevor Zegras but had absolutely no issue immediately offering a 34 year old, inevitable regression bound Alex Killorn 6.25 over the next 4 lol

Great signing for ANA, going to assume that final year is going to have a high QO. Extrapolating his numbers, if he averages ~80 points per year over the next 3 years, he’d be in similar contract comparable to PLD, Barzal, and Point. Next contract is probably going to look like 9.5M - 11M on an 8 year deal if his progression continues. If he stays as a 60 point player, going to come out cheaper but such is life.

Very very very fair deal for the Ducks. The precedent for guys like Zegras as of late have been 7×7. The Ducks keep him at a very fair price with RFA expiry. Of course the downside here is that he will be owed an obscene amount of money when those 3 years are up.

I think it would've been smarter for the Ducks (a team with a boat load of capspace) to try and get him on a longer term deal around the 7 or 8 mil range. I wonder if it was Zegras or Verbeek that was gunning for this shorter term deal...

Should have signed him longer but at least he won’t miss any time in season!

Glad to see this get done before the season starts for all parties involved.

Value for Zegras. It is interesting that it's only 3 years.

3x$6M was a consensus on a short term deal. Congrats on Verbeek to piss off his star player to save 75k.

The most boring outcome.

Either pay the kid way too much or break Twitter with a mega trade. Booooo.

consensus means nothing. there is only what zegras wanted and what the ducks wanted.

Finally! Great contract for 3 years but should have 100% him signed long term but that's ANA fault for not wanting to pay him what he's worth. But now they need to focus on Drysdale since he is also a big part of their future.

Either Verbeek and a complete and utter moron who should be immediately fired or this is all on Zegras who wanted a short term deal.

I feel they should have long term commited to something similar to what Hughes got as now if Zegras takes that next step you could see him go from 8 x 8 to 10.5 x 8

But hey they at least got him signed

I wonder if 8x8 was on the table? I think the Ducks dropped the ball by not locking him up long term, b/c he could cost nearly double on his next contract.

It's finally over
Anyway why is he so underpaid comparing to other players in team?
Or is he waiting for 8x12M after?
