I didnt realize GMs were allowed to make significant trades that required more than telling their secretaries to fetch a pack of menthols from the corner convenience store.

Drysdale probably still upset about the injury/contract shenanigans at the end of last season. Disgruntled player for disgruntled player. Makes sense.

I like this trade for Anaheim better than I do for Philly, so they "win," but if the player tells you he doesn't want to play there, what are you gonna do?

I'm voting fair deal for now though I would maybe give Philly a slight advantage, I've never been a Cutter Gauthier fan (I had him ranked at 22 in his draft year, he'd likely move up a bit nowadays but I still see him as more of a 2nd line potential player) while Philly gets Drysdale who's a solid D with top pair potential though injury prone and a 2nd rd pick

Bro didn't want to play for Philledelpia, and they got that much for him? That's a win for the Phylers I'd say.

Pretty sick deal for both teams.

Ducks get a legit prospect (who seems like he wanted to leave the Flyers)

Flyers get a legit high end OFD (who’s still gotta grow) and a 2nd

I mean... that's a brutal hand to be dealt for Philly, so kudos for getting something back, but man I LOVE this for Anaheim. They've got unreal defensive prospect depth that frees them up to land a guy who I think is gonna be a real impactful player.

So I guess Gauthier didn’t want to play in Philly, so that’s stupid (never a fan of players who ask out before playing a game). I’d say it’s pretty fair right now, I could see scenarios where either team wins

Apparently he didn't want to play for the Flyers and ghosted Flyers staff at the world juniors. I would be LIVID if I was the Flyers, even if this trade works out they essentially threw away a top 5 pick. At the same time, you have to ask: did they not ask him about this before they drafted him? Shouldn't this be the first question you ask him

Wild trade.

I wonder if this could be the first movement that eventually shakes Zegras loose

Zegras on the move?

At least now people should realise Zegras is only worth a 1st+ (like Gauthier) and not 3x1st (like Gretzky)

Sean Walker 99% getting traded

PHI basically just traded for the replacement

I get not wanting to play for Philly but why would you agree to play in Anaheim?

That’s a bit like refusing to watch the Wizard of Oz, fine I guess it might’ve not aged well

But then you’re completely willing to 20,000 Leagues under sea, when that film came out 19 years earlier, a bit weird

Okay, I like the trade. Drysdale was injured earlier this season but is coming back. Anaheim has both Warren, Zellweger and how many other young D coming but Anaheim got another shooter/faceoff artist. As for, Gauthier, beside having a massive shot, he handled more faceoffs at the World U20s, 72 f/off wins out of 117 f/offs, see other Anaheim teammate, N Gaucher (Memorial Cup and Worlds). On the flip side, Flyers get a young D who's game ready and a 2nd round pick.

on the basis that Gautheir has an elite shot and top line upside, while Drysdale has top pair upside for a RHD, its probably a fair deal.

BUT WHO THE F*** IS SUPPOSED TO BE OUR 1RD GOING FORWARD!!!

Something must have run afowl in Philly... cough.

You'd have to be on quack to want to play for the Ducks.

Damn. Wish the Hawks would’ve offered Tampa’s 1st round pick this year + 2nd for him. They’re so depleted of higher end offensive talent. Would’ve been a great fit.

Yeah, anybody fiercely taking one side or the other is probably just being optimistic at this point. We won't know who won this trade for a good long while. Hell, we may need to wait until they're done playing.

I imagine that either Warren or Luneau is penciled in to be the 1RD for us, but unless we get the 1st OVR pick, I could see us trying to take Levshunov to be the 1RD of the future.
