Vancouver - Get's a very good 2nd pairing defender that has a good contract for 2 more years. Price is fair for that caliber of a player.
Detroit - Get's a first + 2nd round pick for a guy who's not really needed with their top 4 locked up for the foreseeable future.
This would make sense if the teams roles were reversed, but Vancouver is rebuilding and Detroit is playoff hunting.. so wtf is this trade?
Hronek will be a good pairing mate for Hughes, but man it's so much value. Looking at it like pick 18 and pick 40 for a guy whos good but also 25 and hasn't shown that he's even close to elite
Interesting move...either VAN just found their Hughes partner for the near future, or DET just capitalized on what may be an aberration of a season. Or they don't want to pay what he may command in a year.
Man I like Hronek but not at that price… if we were contending it’s a different story but hopefully we can recoup some picks by trading Boeser and/or Miller
I think it's fair but I also see this aging very poorly for Vancouver feels like a possible statistical outlier imo. Also Vancouver will suck again next year imo.
