Will be interesting to see if CGY flips Kuzmenko

Love the fit for the Canucks, but this was a fantastic deal for the Flames. Kuzmenko will undoubtedly bounce back, and Brzustewicz will be a star. The draft picks are nice too.

Divisional + Rival tax, plus an apparent last minute offer of the Rangers. It's pricey, especially given the early reports from media. But I can't say it's not a package that is warranted.

Kuzmenko was awesome until the coaching change meant he didn't fit. Lets hope Lindholm is a fit, because Kuzmenko could easily turn it around and make this look lopsided.

I'm pretty low on Lindholm, but I'm also pretty low on the stuff the Canucks sent back. Honestly fair deal. I'd be careful about signing Lindholm tho

Fairly solid return. Imagine Calgary wins the early vote…Canucks win with deep playoff run.

If it helps VAN go far, this will look great for them.

But I think it's a bit more in CGY's side with how much of a haul they're getting.

Andrei Kuzmenko is being overpaid and wasn't fitting in with the team, so that's not a huge loss.
Hunter Brzustewicz is having a monster season in the OHL, so that's a loss.
The 1st will be early 20s at best, which is still something.
Joni Jurmo will very likely never sign an NHL contract. Not sure why they were even included.
4th round pick is usually nothing.

Two real assets for Elias Lindholm and $650,000 less this year and even more savings next year to give to Petey.

This really isn't as big a deal as people think. Jurmo is basically nothing and Bruz might be legit but most people seem to think he's not as good as the points suggest

I wouldn't expect this to really impact the market for Monahan, as they aren't really comparables other than the sense they are centers and (potential) rentals. Lindholm is a selke, top-six forward compared to Monahan who is a good middle-six pickup for a contending team. VAN is the best team in the league by record and makes more sense to pay a premium for a premium player. Monahan is a nice powerplay/faceoff guy, but I wouldn't really put these two in the same category.

Flames W Lindholm is overrated imo

... and thus endeth all the Buch to VAN City trades.

Dumping Kuzmenko makes this a massive W for VAN. He had negative value at $5.5M. Lindholm makes them a legit threat in the west.

My benchmark for a fair deal on Lindholm was Kuzmenko + Raty + 2024 1st.

That was assuming Calgary would retain on Lindholm.



The only question is whether Jurmo + Hunter Brz + a conditional 4th is worth more than Raty.

IMO, the answer is a resounding yes.

Can't wait to see the inflated Monahan trade proposals that are undoubtedly coming.

Andrei Kuzmenko wasn't living up to his contract and I doubt things were going to get better, so the Canucks losing him isn't a real loss.
The 1st and Hunter Brzustewicz should turn into NHL players, but the other two parts are just whatever.

If Lindholm gets Vancouver to the final four, then they win this trade.

Canucks were fortunate to rid 5.5m Kuzmenko next year. The juniors may never be NHLer so Flames are depending 1st rounder to make the deal.
