Why trade a 40 goal scorer for Dubois AND ADD A PLAYER WHO COULD BUST LOOSE AS SOON AS THIS SEASON

The Jackets win this player wise, but not position wise. Look at their C depth: Domi, Jenner, Texier, Roslovic, Koivu... That's not a condending team worthy.

Can't wait to when they're both requesting another trade in a year.

Fair deal. Laine wont stay long in CBJ, and Dubois could turn out to be better. Besides, Dubois was probably the best player the Jets could acquire for Laine

I’m not a huge fan of this for CBJ, but I think from the sounds of it, I’m missing something with Roslovic.

What is his potential looking like? I haven’t really watched him...

Because Roslovic clearly let WPG know that he would not play for the team again. View this trade as a 1 for 1 trade, Dubois for Laine

His ceiling is a 60 pt 2c imo (maybe even more since we haven’t really seen his game at centre much)

I wouldn’t put Jenner back at C. Domi is top line as of right now, I’d let Roslovic/ Tex fight for second line, then let Koivu and Nash have 3rd and 4th line

Is this because Centers are valued much higher than wingers? PLD for Laine straight up was the only thing that made sense to me. Adding Roslovic for a 3rd seems outlandish and honestly a bit disrespectful to both Laine and Roslovic if you ask me. I hope both light it up in Columbus...of course this mostly because I really feel for Columbus' fan base.

Their C depth will be Domi then Roslovic. He left Winnipeg to be a 2C. Heather he is good enough to be there remains to be seen

Aight. Well, if he can hit this potential, I’m much happier with this.

But my patience with Torts is wearing real thin right now.

Laine a 3rd Liner with an Elite Shot (Who Torts is going to absolutely hate). PLD a competitor who is I wouldn't call him a 1C because he had 1 year of that type of play, and he's definitely not a 1C in Winnipeg because Scheifele. I don't see how this helps Winnipeg that much. It's cap hell in about 2 years. I wouldn't be surprised if Laine doesn't last a month in Columbus. Columbus has a risky player in Jack Roslovic, but I think they can develop him better than Winnipeg did.

Think whoever wins this long term will depend on which player ends up staying on their new team the longest.

Short term, I think it's fairly even though.

I think this is a big win for WPG. Laine is a one dimensional player that requires guys like Scheifele to do all the hard work and Laine sits in the slot for a snipe. Kudos on the snipe...it's not nothing, but if you want to see a guy get benched....it'll be Laine in Columbus. Torts clearly doesn't put up with guys that can't play 2-ways. VERY VERY short sighted move by Jarmo...unless you're firing Torts. Fresh start for PLD...look to see him feed Ehlers/Connor. VERY dangerous two lines.

Maybe the best change-of-scenery deal ever made. Three disgruntled players, two of them stars, being swapped for each other, and none of them outside of Roslovic getting exactly what they want. Dubois wanted a bigger market and is sent to the smallest city in the NHL known for Siberia-like winters, and Laine still won't get a #1C to play with in Columbus.

What a bananas trade. I feel like CBJ made this trade from an asset standpoint and not necessarily because they think Laine will fit. Roslovic is a very underrated part of this deal, as I think he is a perfect fit for CBJ/Torts in the long term. Laine I think fits well for about 3 months and then looks to leave again, which CBJ can cash in again on.

PLD will do well in WPG, I could see his frustrations carrying over there however, WPG must have some knowledge that he will be happy back in Canada and wasn't necessarily needing a bigger stage.

4 years from now I think we look back and its obvious CBJ won this in a landslide, with Roslovic a staple in the CBJ lineup and tons of assets acquired from flipping Laine.
