Way too early to decide a winner. Drysdale has top pairing potential and Gauthier has elite shooting capabilities but hasn't even turned pro yet. Fair deal for now

It sucks for Philly to lose a top 5 pick this way

Just looking at the numbers suggests Philly won.

HOWEVER, and this is important. It took Drysdale TWO MONTHS to recover from an injury that was called day-to-day. This could be a bad sign.

Still, I'll call it a fair trade, pending injuries.

Apparently he didn't want to play for the Flyers and ghosted Flyers staff at the world juniors. I would be LIVID if I was the Flyers, even if this trade works out they essentially threw away a top 5 pick. At the same time, you have to ask: did they not ask him about this before they drafted him? Shouldn't this be the first question you ask him

I get not wanting to play for Philly but why would you agree to play in Anaheim?

Probably means Anaheim takes Levshunov at this years draft

It's too early to decide a winner right now but it's going to be very interesting to see how this trade plays out in the years to come

Drysdale is already an established NHL player while Gauthier is not.

Gauthier hasn't even been signed to his ELC yet.

The 2nd round pick should be going the other way.

Philadelphia wins.

I think him skipping development camp was an early sign that it wasn't going to be a fit which is interesting considering how he shot up the board under the old command. Keith Jones mentioned before he started the blueline needs to improve and Drysdale is going to be there man. No other defensemen in the system besides Bonk and Andrea with Walker/Seeler certainly being sold off at the deadline. Gauthier is a sick player, hard to see him go but figure it is a positional need and with Michkov in the system, it makes sense. Hope this isn't a future Hall/Larsson trade but even then, I like the new front office making aggressive moves.

Edit: well he was going to refuse to sign so that's a solid return compared to a compensation 1st round pick in like 2030.

Wild trade.

I wonder if this could be the first movement that eventually shakes Zegras loose

Maybe he wants to play with someone currently in the ducks system? IDK if he has any teammates currently in the ducks system.

Drysdale’s injury history would be a major cause of concern for me.

Wow. The Ducks undoubtedly win this trade, but I really like the fit between Drysdale and Philly. I think he is going to thrive in that environment, just look at Sean Walker's success in Philly.

Back to Anaheim now; all I can say is wow. This is a fantastic acquisition for a young Ducks team that is already stacked at forward. Cutter is the real deal he is going to be a killer in Anaheim. I have to commend the Flyers for getting a legitimately elite talent back for a prospect that wasn't going to sign with them (leave it to Briere to make the best of a bad situation), but Anaheim really cleaned up here

This is going to be a trade you have to revisit in 5 years to see how it shook out. Gauthier's a solid prospect and Drysdale had a rough couple years but could still be a good top 2 defenseman.

Flyers "win" right now because they got tangible returns on someone who wasn't going to play for them.
